The hallmark of a successful academy is a successful Junior Program. It is our flagship service. We would of course, from 2010 onwards, continue on with the good work already developed from the past. We have a wonderful Level System set in place whereby students are initially assessed and allocated into their appropriate level and then together with the student, we work toward moving the student up through the various levels. |
It is the ideal situation as the levels act as distinctive “mini-goals” for the student to strive toward as they forge a pathway to their potential of better golf.
As our Academy grows, our challenge also is to create more literature for my Academy so that the progression is clearer to the student and students’ parents. This will also cement in the perceptions of our customers as to how serious we are in developing a very systematic approach to teaching golf to the youngsters with a well presented syllabus for all to see. This is really what an Academy is. This is Phil’s dream; this is his passion which is shared with his team.
So we will continue in 2010 with the following:
- implementation of our proven Level System with accompanying certification as the student progresses
- a well rounded syllabus consisting of top class instruction in the long game, short game, putting, rules classes and on-course playing lessons
- periodic assessments in the form of skills tests (practical) and rules and etiquette tests (theory)
- progress reports given annually with optional interviews between coach and parents to run through the report and give additional feedback as to the progress of the student
Not only is the PBG Broad Base Junior Program a super program in its own right but it does act very nicely as a feeder to the Junior Golf Development Program (JGDP). Our top level, Level 6, are handicapped golfers less than 15 handicap for boys and 20 handicap for girls (this is for Secondary School students – the reality is a bit more complicated than that as we have a sliding progression of qualifying handicaps based on age to enter Level 6) and are golfers more involved in performing in competitions. So the pool of students is there and the system is in place for continued growth. Phil Brew Golf, as an Academy is committed to this development.
