Melvin Chen(Teaching Professional)

Melvin Chen was introduced to the game of golf by his parents at the age of 10 and was quickly enrolled in one of the pioneer golf foundations in Singapore known as the First Junior Golf Foundation. It was there where he developed most of his skills as a junior and more importantly, his love for the game.

During this time, he was sent overseas to represent Singapore in many junior tournaments.
After completing his secondary school education at ACS (Independent), Melvin went to the United States of America, to California to broaden his horizons. He graduated from California State University Northridge with a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology. During this time in the States, he also played on several mini golf tours as an amateur, namely the Golden State Tour and the Golf Channel Amateur Tour. Melvin has played on over 200 golf courses, and among his favourites have been Sherwood Country Club and the famed Pebble Beach Golf Links.

Back in Singapore, Melvin is a member of Seletar Country Club where he was the Club Open Match Play Champion and a regular Premier League player. He passed the Player Ability Test (PAT) held at Laguna National Country Club and obtained his SPGA teaching professional card in January 2010. It has always been his dream and desire to be able to impart his golfing knowledge to people and to show everyone how wonderful the game of golf can be. He has found the right place to start (his teaching career) at Phil Brew Golf Academy at NSRCC and believes you should consider this as your golf academy of choice too.
